What is a fat bike and why is it suitable for snow?

A fat bike is a bicycle equipped with very wide tires (typically 3.8–5 inches) that provide greater flotation on fresh snow and soft terrain; better grip on hard and icy snow; and a more stable ride even at low speeds. They were designed for use on sandy and snowy terrain, so they are naturally suited to winter.
